Rockford Diaries Week 5: The Challenge - October 6th, 2014

Mis Queridos,

First off, let's all just talk about how much we loved conference! Is it no the best. I just felt like they were laying down the law and I loved it. I am so grateful we having living apostles and a prophet on the earth today. We would be lost without them....one might say, in apostasy even.... Haha

Anyway, my dear brother Payson along with some recent experiences I have had inspired me to extended a challenge to all of you reading this email. Yes, you. It's not important who you are, how busy you are, what your religion is, your beliefs, how active you aren't aren't, how many years young you are, or anything else. This is a challenge for all of you. The challenge is quite simple really, it's this:
Read the whole Book of Mormon before I get home from my mission
I will be coming home from my mission May 12th. That gives you 7 months more or less to read all 531 pages in the Book of Mormon. Now most of you will probably ignore this and go on with your life as it is. But there is one scriptures I want to share that might change your mind.

1 Nephi 15:24:
"...whoso would hearken unto the word of God, and would hold fast unto it, they would never perish; neither could the temptations and the fiery darts of the adversary overpower them unto blindness, to lead them away to destruction".

Pretty intense promise right? The Book of Mormon is the word of God. There is no doubt about it, and if there is, well, why don't you just read it and find out. See what're you're missing out on. Maybe we know and have something that you need. And since the Book of Mormon IS the word of God, if we hold fast to it, we will never perish, or in other words, we will NEVER fall to the temptations of our common enemy. I don't know anyone who doesn't want to be a little bit strong, or have children who are a little bit stronger. Or anyone who doesn't want to be a little more secure. Friends, and Family, whether you're members of our church or not, I challenge you to open the Book of Mormon and read it. I promise you, as a representative of Jesus Christ, our Savior, and having been called by a living prophet, that if you will read the Book of Mormon, your life will be forever changed. All that you are looking for, you will find. Both temporally and spiritually. Whatever is important to you, whatever your motivation is: getting good grades, finding a new job, raising a happy and strong family, having a better relationship with your spouse, developing your relationship with our Savior, finding out who you are and what your purpose is, getting rid of stress, letting go of guilt, overcoming a bad habit, finding out how to be happy, figuring out where we go after we die, getting out of debt, and seriously anything else- you will find it in the Book of Mormon, and you will be immensely blessed. A power will come into your life, and a peace, and happiness you have never before felt. If you read it with a sincere desire to know and come into God. I promise you that.

I love the Book of Mormon with all my heart. I hope you will take this opportunity to read it and "awake and arouse your faculties, even to an experiment upon my words, and exercise a particle of faith, yea, even if ye can no more than desire to believe, let this desire work in you, even until ye believe in a manner that ye can give place for a portion of my words"(Alma 32:27). These are some things I know. I know that God loves all of his children. All of them. Not just the ones who lived in Jerusalem. But also the ones who lived in the Americas. I know that God talks to his children, that's why we pray isn't it? Nearly every religion has so form or another of prayer- we pray hoping somehow God will talk to us don't we? And I know that He does. I know that God is always the same, never changing, yesterday, today, and forever, and because of this we can trust in him implicitly and we can also understand that if he once called prophets and apostles in the bible times- prophets and apostles we all know and love, Moses, Abraham, Matthew, Mark, and John- then it only makes sense He would continue to call them to lead and guide us, that He wouldn't just abandon His children. I know the Book of Mormon is proof that God loves us. That Jesus is the Christ, and that God calls prophets still. The Book of Mormon has filled my souls with peace and brought me great joy. This is what I want for all you. I want mis queridos to be strong and resolute and faithful, this is possible only through a deep testimony of the true doctrine of Jesus Christ, which can be found, unchanged, in the Book of Mormon.

So will you do it? Let me know whose willing to do it :)

Also if you need a Book of Mormon, we have some for dayssssss- so just let me know :)

We have transfers next week. So we will see what happens. We find out Saturday night!

Also, we have been playing McDonalds monopoly....we're really hoping to win a million dollars....or any money really haha we always joke that we should start going every day.......

I learned so much this week. But I am running out of time. I will have to tell you about it next week. Brief synopsis, 'I know who I am, I know God's plan, and I'll follow Him in faith'.

I love you all, keep fighting the good fight. I will see you in 7 months(on Sunday).

Xoxo
