'Welcome to Chicago' - August 26th, 2014

Dearest Familia,

Sorry I didn't email yesterday, we went to the temple today, that was
amazing as always :) but probably the best experience I have had so
far, cause I studied and prepared, and well my mind was expanded. I
love the temple so much.
Anyway, this was a pretty great week :) except I felt kind of like a
zombie all week. I was just so tired. But still a good week.
We also almost ended up in Chicago with our member who didn't know
where she was going on our way home from the temple. She kept ignoring
the GPS. So we got to the sign that said 'Welcome to Chicago'. Pretty
cool!
I don't have a lot of time or much inspiration to write this week. So
this will be short. Sorry in advance!
So the highlight of the week this week was putting Angeles on date :)
she is a member referral we met when her friend (who is a recent
convert) brought her to church with her. She is really hard to
describe. Let me describe our first encounter with her, she had 6in
long nails,      and she talked with us about evil spirits, and lots
of other crazy things. But she is so awesome. Teaching her has been a
really cool experience because we have had to really, extra seek the
spirit to teach her because she has so many interesting beliefs. We
have prayed so very often to be filled with love, and to see her
potential the way Heavenly Father sees her. And she has so much
potential. She has so much faith, and a sincere desire to become
whomever Heavenly Father wants her to become. I love her so much. Yes,
she is a little intense. But as we have really felt that confirmation
that we are the missionaries that were meant to teach her because we
aren't 'freaker-outters'. When she says something strange it doesn't
shock us, or make us want to run away. Heavenly Father has been very
merciful to us as missionaries and helped us so much in this journey
with her. And she is changing so much. She is opening herself up to us
about who she really is, and why she is the way she is. So she wants
to be baptized on September 13th. :) yay! That might change though
because this week she called us and said her husband wants to hear the
lessons, we have never met him before, so that's exciting!! :)
Also this week we started teaching an awesome less active son, of one
of the best families in the ward. He hasn't been to church in about 5
years. But we taught him a lesson this week. Which was a miracle. We
had planned on trying to contact him on Facebook this week. But one
day we took his mom out, and all of our lessons fell through and we
hadn't eaten lunch, so we went to her house for lunch, and we found
her son and taught him a lesson! In that lesson we found out he
doesn't have a Facebook. Which was awesome. He teared up. Since then
he has been praying a lot, and we invited him to stake conference on
Saturday night and he came! It was so great. But his parents are
moving and he isn't moving with them, so we are a little concerned
about that because we don't know what's going to happen to him. But he
reminds me a lot of Johan. They have very similar personalities. So I
love him a lot.
Anyway, I love being a missionary. The church is true. Saturday we
find out about transfers! So who knows what will happen.
We are eating at the best BBQ place in the mission right now. Plus it
has wifi. That's all anyone really needs. Literally we don't go places
on Mondays that don't have wifi. Or we try our best to avoid it.
Anyway, I have to go eat some BBQ. You understand. But I love you all
so much. I will send you some pictures with some funny stories that
happened this week. Preview, pick up lines. The mission is amazing.
Fight the good fight

Love,
Hermana Simmons
